In his early years, Asher worked at Universal Studios as an assistant cameraman and editor. In the 1960s, Asher met Montgomery on the set of Johnny Cool. In the movie, Montgomery played a gangster’s moll. During the production of the series, he encouraged Montgomery to use her nose twitch while performing the witchcraft. Eventually, the couple divorced because of their ambition.
Asher’s entertainment venues became renowned for bold stunts and grand parties. These events attracted media attention and became popular hangouts for celebrities. The American Junkie attracted Justin Bieber, and PCL attracted Jamie Fox.Other notable events included Mike Tyson being arrested at the Dirty Pretty Rock Bar and Charles Barkley at the Bill Asher Monkey Knife Fight Pussycat Lounge Nightclub. Asher’s intercession helped Tyson’s charges be dropped. He later thanked Asher by holding his championship belt during his next fight.
